Tinneca Fortin : SEP, LRT, LM, LMT
Licensed Recreational Therapist, Licensed Midwife, Licensed Massage Therapist, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner

My first career, as a Midwife, began over 20 years ago when I was inspired by the birth of my first son. Hundreds of times since, I've witnessed the incredible miracle of life and the resilience of the human spirit...

But that work also showed me the shadow side of women's lives, and thus the lives of all of us to some degree. It showed me the impact that overwhelming stress and trauma has on the mind and body, dimming the bright light of the human spirit. This new realization was the primary spark of my journey into trauma healing. It led me on my own quest for deep, restorative healing and in so doing, I began to study and be mentored in many fields; Somatic Bodywork (Soma Structural Integration and Craniosacral Therapy) Somatic and Depth Psychology, Expressive Arts, Ecotherapy, and ultimately the foundation for all of my healing work, Somatic Experiencing. My learning is current and ongoing.

It was 10 years ago with my midwifery practice in full swing and my slow shift into somatic healing, that my husband and I founded a fully outdoor nature school on our organic farm and forest property. Over the years, I watched nature's wisdom support nervous system regulation and healing in kids of all ages. It supported them in understanding and building boundaries, deepened curiosity and empathy and cultivated self-awareness. Over time, I realized my own body had come into a deeper sense of ease and self-reflection. This showed me that our bodies, like the earth, hold innate healing intelligence if we are able and willing to slow down, tune in and really listen.

My somatic practice spent one year in a beautiful indoor office space and I feel so grateful for the experience, but so many times during a session I would think, "This would be a great time to go outside!"  And now that is a possibility for every session.

I have personally experienced the profound impact of somatic and nature based practices in my own life and my hope is that by sharing what has been so healing for me I can inspire healing processes in others. I  believe that by embracing our place in the natural world while bringing open and compassionate curiosity, we can tap into a profound sense of belonging, resilience and transformation for ourselves and the world.

If you're curious if this practice could support healing for you or someone you love, feel free to call or text for a 15 minute consult or schedule an appointment.

With Love and Gratitude

Step OUT to
my office...

Hi! My name is Tinneca and I'm so honored you've found me. My practice is quite different from traditional talk therapy in an office; I offer a deeply compassionate approach that supports full body healing while keeping nature in mind. This is called 'somatic ecotherapy.'

Somatic ecotherapy is a holistic approach that weaves together the wisdom of the body, the beauty of nature, and the depth of the human experience. It's a practice that invites you to tune into your bodily sensations, emotions, and intuition, while immersed in the natural world.

In essence, somatic ecotherapy gives you access to the innate healing processes that unwind stress and trauma in the most natural environment possible.
